@gfunkzero What is your graphics adapter, AFAIK if it’s an older AMD GPU and require hardware acceleration, then packman is needed for Mesa…
an old Intel HD Graphics 620 @ 1.00 GHz [Integrated]
I just tested my game and it still works, thanks for checking
All very well, but that means hunting down the relevant flatpaks – I generally don’t have the time for that, it is one of the main reasons for running Linux and not Window$, avoiding spending hours trying to find vague solutions. And why an upgrade of the external repository should trigger a downgrade of OSS components is beyond me
Generally speaking a Tumbleweed “upgrade” can install packages of higher (usually) but also lower versions according to what is currently in the repos.
Convoluted dependency chains (as in this case) might have unexpected consequences.

I guess you mean “minutes”. Otherwise it’s even bigger nonsense:
- $Searchengine: openSUSE flatpak - 1 min
- Read openSUSE wiki page and apply instructions - 3 min
- Install VLC, Kdenlive and whatever else from flathub - 5 min
IMNSHO using Packman is a vaguer “solution” ( is Duct Tape a solution? ), then using flatpaks.
For steam, the native package is recommended over flatpak because of slightly better performance… Pretty sure steam was the one who installed mesa32 from Packman (steam moving to 64 bit soon™)
For media codecs, well I have 3 machines / distros and have never been told to use the flatpak version of Firefox or even tried it
No. Steam does not require or need or install anything from packman.
