zypper dup: invalid repositories

Hi,

I’ve been having issues, initially maybe due to sharing/updating Win10 on separate partition (https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php/554179-Emergency-Mode-following-updates-on-Win-10-partition). Per the initial thread, I got back up and running following a snapper rollback.

Now, applications are slow to load/respond. And now on updates, I get the response below. I’ve also been running TW on a separate TW-only desktop for a couple of years and haven’t seen this, don’t really know what to make of it. Updates on that other system just ran fine without issue. Any explanations on the invalid repositories below?

I don’t get it. You say you run Tumbleweed and there are a lot of SLE-15 repos mentioned there.

Do you really know what you are running?

Thank you. From the GUI System Info:

Operating System: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20210517

Graphics Processor: AMD RENOIR

I installed TW on this back in March when new, and everything was going fine until the issue I linked to in the top of the thread (emergency mode). I guess an important detail might be that this is the first zypper dup run after I did the snapper rollback. All updates prior to that were ‘normal’.

But why do you have those repos. Personaly I have no idea what they are for. They are within the openSUSE download area download.opensuse.org/repositories/ and then there seems to be a SUSE:/ . I have no idea what for.

In any case you can go there using a web browser and then you will see that there is no SLE-15-SP1:/ (there is SLE-10:/ , SLE-11:/ , SLE-15-SP3:/ , SUSEStudio/ and Templates/).

But again, it is you that added those repos and thus you that should know why and because they are gone now, you can then try to decide if you still need that and then search for an alternative.

Hi. Thanks again. Below is a link to a capture of my repo window, and the problem does now appear a bit clearer. BUT, aside from the snapper rollback (and maybe the Win 10 updates), I have done nothing to alter system config, repos, etc. I wouldn’t have known how to, had no reason. So, I’m kind of at a loss as to how it got like this.

Since you’re here, would you mind advising? Do I just delete the SUSE-SLE entries at top and openSuse LEAP entries at bottom, and then enable all the openSUSE-Tumbleweed repos? That hd/…SandiskCruzerDial entry must be somehow related to the SandiskCruzer flash drive that I run Clonezilla backups off of, but even that has been a straightforward process, not sure why/how it would have affected repo listing/priorities.

That appears to have done it, thank you! Again, no idea how I got here, but I just got through clean updates, a reboot, and things appear in order. Really appreciate your timely assistance on this.

Please, try to remember what you have done to get them. Else you could do it agaain!

Did you do one-click installs?

Thanks, I’ve been trying to think if I did anything else that might have triggered, but haven’t come up with much. I think I did most setup / initial config through the YaST2 Software Manager. Installed DigiKam via OneClick (https://software.opensuse.org/package/digikam) maybe a month ago. Otherwise, just busy playing with micro-controllers and troubleshooting my docking station.

I gues I’ve kind of settled into a narrative of 1) Win 10 updates earlier this month broke something on the bootloader, Then 2) the snapper rollback restored regular boot/GUI, but introduced the repo changes. That might not make any technical sense, but since I don’t really understand how either of those events work, seems plausible enough to me!

I’ll stick with my Clonezilla/rsync routine for now in case I hit something unrecoverable, hopefully learn more about all this as I go. Thanks again.

I saw a news article yesterday about a merging of SLES and Leap. Maybe it has something to do with SuSE going IPO this week??? Since it didn’t pertain to Tumbleweed, I just glanced at it. Might be an upstream error or a hint of things to come.

I certainly can’t speak to any of that, but I guess if I’m the only one reporting this issue, then I’m okay with a cause attribution of ‘unspecified user error’.

Hi
Nah, it’s the pesky one click installs from OBS pointing at wrong releases…
