I have a KVM instance where the provider does not supply any openSUSE image later than 13.1. But I want Leap as my OS.
Will zypper dup work in KVM instance without any problem?
It <can> work without a problem.
Recommend upgrading to 13.2 and then upgrade again to LEAP 42.1.
Also, I also recommend following the following SDB for each upgrade to 13.2 and then to 42.1, and change to runlevel 3 before running “zypper dup”

As always, if this is a valuable vm, make a copy before you make changes, and make additional copies as you perform each upgrade step so you won’t lose your machine if something doesn’t work.
