Anyone else having this issue? I first tried the official .RPM for openSUSE on the Zoom site and the installation fails.
Now I tried the flatpak and it installs but won’t launch.
I hate to complain, but I’m kinda annoyed to be honest. So many problems with Tumbleweed I’m having that my Debian Sid and Arch systems don’t have. I expected more because so many people rant and rave about tumbleweed.
Anyway. Anyone know how to fix this? Would be appreciated. Thanks
I just got out of a Zoom meeting on my TW system - so I can confirm that it does run on TW. I had no issues getting it to work, either.
I currently use the RPM, version 5.16.5.303.
As hui suggested, output from the installation showing the failure would help in identifying the problem.
ETA: If I had to guess, I suspect that the installation fails because you’re attempting to install the RPM using the rpm command, which doesn’t pull in dependencies. If that’s the case, try:
sudo zypper in ./[zoom RPM file name]
Replacing “[zoom RPM file name]” with the actual filename.
The error I get for the RPM version is the following. Please note, I downloaded the key and put it in the folder /var/cache/zypp/pubkeys and it stil gives this error.
warning: /var/tmp/zypp.wyq2Ss/zypper/_tmpRPMcache_/%CLI%/zoom_openSUSE_x86_64.rpm: Header V4 RSA/SHA512 Signature, key ID dd79b481: NOKEY

Abort, retry, ignore? [a/r/i] (a):
You didn’t import the key as described at the download page? Simply following the instructions on the download page will install the package without problems…
(Also under Debian Sid and Arch you need to import keys and don’t simply copy them into a directory…)
The instructions are so vague on the zoom site. It says:
*Zoom’s rpm packages are signed with a GPG key. Please run “rpm --import package-signing-key.pub” to import the key in case package management utility asks for a missing public key.
I try to run rpm --import package-signing-key.pub in terminal, and it doesn’t do anything. They don’t specify any more details on when and where and how to enter that command.
Also, no, I have never needed to import keys manually on Arch or Sid. It’s done automatically on those as far as I could tell. I have Zoom on both those platforms and never once needed to do this. I’m fine with doing it, but it’s not working that’s driving me nuts.
Agreed. There was an extensive discussion on the factory mailing list a couple months ago (I’m away from my PC at the moment, so I can’t search for it), and while opi is in the oss repo, it is not recommended for general use. It includes packages from home: repos, which can be experimental, incomplete, and unsupported.
It also sources third party packages from places that may not be verifiable.
