zencart and oscommerce

I am trying to install zencart and oscommerce to my www dir. but for some reason i am unable to extract them to their correspondent directories, can somebody please assist me with this matter.

from you question i guess you do not have a lot of linux experience,
right? because, in linux we do not install software by “extracting
them to their correspondent directories” as you might in other
operating systems…

instead, use (in my order of preference) YaST, zypper, rpm or compile
from source (or other options [like deb or yum] if using other
distributions)…

i’m not sure where you need to begin to learn the correct way, maybe
some combination of here:

in general that’s good advice, but these (zencart, oscommerce) are PHP
applications to be installed on a webserver–by extracting the downloaded,
compressed archives to their respective locations. there’s no rpm or other
packages for this.

i don’t understand the original question though: how comes you can not
manage to “extract them to their correspondent directories?”

i assume you downloaded the packages and extracted them somehow,
somewhere. if that’s not where they’re supposed to be, just move them. are
you sitting in front of the webserver, or are you logging in via sftp or
ssh? what’s your operating system, and the webserver’s (if that’s not the
same)?
