yum DeprecationWarning.

Hi,

It does not matter what command I run in yum I always get the same DeprecationWarning. Is there something I can do to remove it?

example:

root # yum clean all

/usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/yum/pgpmsg.py:16: DeprecationWarning: the md5 m
odule is deprecated; use hashlib instead
import struct, time, cStringIO, base64, types, md5, sha
/usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/yum/pgpmsg.py:16: DeprecationWarning: the sha m
odule is deprecated; use the hashlib module instead
import struct, time, cStringIO, base64, types, md5, sha
Cleaning up Everything
Any help or advise will be greatly appreciated.

Well if this is a SUSE system you shouldn’t be using yum. Care to tell us what distro this is?

i wonder if you accidentally posted to the openSUSE forum, because
unless i misremember yum is a Red Hat tool…i guess it can be
installed on openSUSE but i wonder if you tried and didn’t like YaST
why didn’t give Zypper a go…and failing that i’ve heard (around
here) some folks praise Smart…but, i’ve heard of little success with
yum…

so, my first advice (of the “any…will be greatly appreciated”
variety) would be to have a read here: http://en.opensuse.org/Concepts
about some of the ‘concepts’ which sets openSUSE off from Debian, Red
Hat and etc…and therein you will find some links to YaST and Zypper…

and, here is a quick and dirty on zypper:
http://opensuse-tutorials.com/category/zypper/ but CAUTION is might be
too dated to use…

and, i guess it is possible that maybe your install is already damaged
by yum…
