On both of my browsers Firefox and Chrome, youtube is slow… Can’t watch any video.
What’s the problem? Is it about flash player, settings, or something else?
If anyone know what’s the problem, HELP!

Your computer’s technical specifications might also be helpful. Go to Gnome System Monitor → System tab and then post how much RAM and what type of CPU you have. It’s a good idea to narrow this down a software problem first.
It says that I have latest version of flash player. Google chrome has built in flash player, and it’s also latest. In firefox I opened youtube and it offered to install flash player so I did.
My specification is:
Graphics: Ati Radeon 9250 128MB (Driver: Vendor: ATI Technologies Inc Model: RV280 5960 2D driver: radeon 3D driver: R200 classic (7.10.2) )
RAM: 2GB DDR1
Processor: Intel Pentium 4 (2.66GHz)
HD: Western Digital 120GB
And here is my OS:
Linux 2.6.37.6-0.11-default i686
System: openSUSE 11.4 (i586)
KDE: 4.6.00 (4.6.0) “release 6”

when using openSUSE Linux, and if you have the choice then never go to
whatever web site offers to load you up with software if you just let it…
that is the old fashioned, way last century way to collect viruses, root
kits, key loggers and other bad stuff…
always (if you have the choice to make) install software only from the
openSUSE software repositories…those repos are just packed with more
free and open software than you time to try…AND, when you download
from openSUSE repos you system will automatically check to make sure the
package is what it says it is, and FREE from any known evil code.
i thank you for the other hardware info because i can tell you that i am
also running 32 bit 11.4 and my Flash (11.1.102.55) while it has other
problems it runs smooth enough and fast enough for me to enjoy movies,
videos etc etc…
so, lets first follow my guess that somehow the Flash install via
firefox was faulty, and try to repair it this way:
-open YaST > Software Repositories and disable all repos other than
these four: oss, non-oss, packman and update
-and, while there turn off refreshing for all repos other than packman
and update [when finished with those two steps you should have exactly
six checkmarks indicating 4 enabled and 2 refreshing, like here:
http://paste.opensuse.org/81397698]
-close Software Repositories and open YaST > Software Management, and in
the search block type flash and, click “Search” in the right pane
that is the results of the search you may see one of a few things:
a. two checkmarked boxes, one each next to “flash-player” and
“pullin-flash-player”: in this case right click the two boxes (one at
a time) and select either ‘update’ or ‘refresh’ or ‘reinstall’ as the
case may be on your system [the exact word varies according to the color
or the moon–in any event do not pick uninstall, delete, keep
etc]…then the check marks will change to a different icon, and click
the “Accept” button…
OR
b. you will see “flash-player” and “pullin-flash-player” listed but
there is no check mark in the box next to them: in this case left click
the box and it will place a (probably green) check mark in the box (to
‘install’) and when that is done click the “Accept” button
when you have followed my instructions for the condition you found, then
shutdown your browser and try a video again…
does it work ok?
if not and you are in full screen try going back to less than full
screen–work ok now?
if not, go to Personal Settings - Configure Desktop > Workspace
Appearance and Behavior > Desktop Effects and on the “General” tab
uncheck the box next to “Enable desktop effects”, click “Apply” and try
the video again…does it work better or the same now?
ok: do not proceed until you have read the caveat in my sig and realize
i do not know for sure what is wrong on your machine and i’m searching
for the one thing that might help you have Flash good, like me!
if there is no change, move your mouse pointer over any area where flash
is running (like over a youtube video) and right click…up will pop a
menu, pick “Settings” then “Close”…any change in Flash?
if it is not better then add OverrideGPUValidation=true to a created
/etc/adobe/mms.cfg see
http://blogs.adobe.com/penguinswf/2008/08/secrets_of_the_mmscfg_file_1.html
so, how is it now?
if not better then add EnableLinuxHWVideoDecode = 1 true to that same,
just created /etc/adobe/mms.cfg see
http://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php?t=468151
how does it work now?
ok, i give up–except: go here http://tinyurl.com/37v9y7m and see if you
can figure out if there is supposedly a better video driver for the card
you have…if not, better luck next time when you buy video graphics
hardware.

I see that you know a lot of things that might solve my problem. I’m new to openSuSE linux, and even to KDE deskotp environment. I used Ubuntu and debian earlier with Gnome, but al of this you’ve wrote me seems like hard for me to do, check and whatever… I’m something like “new to linux” so it’s better that you check it on my system, of course if you have teamviewer installed. If you do, please send me a private message if you have time, I will give you my skype or msn… than you can add me and we’ll do something with it.
I really don’t understand how to do all of this. Thanks
Maybe I found out what’s the problem. When I turned off desktop effects, video worked much better, except fullscreen video (it’s still a little slow). Without desktop effects everything works faster. Probably it’s because of old graphics card (better driver for ati radeon 9250 doesn’t exist). KDE is also heavy for my computer. With other deskto environments like LXDE problems like this wouldn’t happen.
So thanks for your help, I’ll manage with that.
