Problem: I’m attempting to change my active domain membership, but when I go to yast2 > Windows Domain Membership, it hangs with a message “Verifying AD domain membership” shown on screen. I’ve attempted this from the console immediately after restarting the machine, and I can’t get past this error. I retried it after starting Xorg with KDE, and encountered the same problem.
Likely cause: In Windows Server 2019 Active Directory Users and Computers, I removed (deleted) the domain membership of my openSUSE machine, in preparation to rejoining the domain with the current machine name.
Solution: Unknown. I have no idea how to correct this problem. I made significant changes to my openSUSE machine since originally joining my Windows Server domain, so I renamed it to better reflect the role of the machine in my domain. I susp3ect I may have to manually reinitialize the configuration files, but I don’t know which files need to be reinitialized or what to initialize them to. I believe I have a snapshot of my system immediately after the initial install before I originally joined the domain with the obsolete name.
