YaST2 installation error

When installing openSUSE 11.1 on a iBook G3 I get to the System Probing section it runs through fine right upto the ‘Initializing package manager’ section then I get the error “YaST2:Unable to create repository from URL ‘cd:///?devices=/dev/hdb’.”

‘Failed to mount cd:///?devices=/dev/hdb on : Mounting media failed’

im using the DVD installation of openSUSE yes im new to linux having only used Ubuntu’s 7.04 install I wanted to change to openSUSE as Ubuntu no longer runs on my ibook.

Anyone have any ideas

try manual mount /dev/sdb /media
i think device id for cdrom/dvdrom is scd if you have 2 hdds and slave cdrw dvdrw.
some times reffered ac sr0 also
find what works for the system.
then correspondingly add to yast2 repo

are you getting kde desktop at boot time?
check cd media once before trying again.

Im installing on an Apple Mac (PowerPC) ibook G3 as far as I know it has one 15Gb drive and a DVD drive built into the laptop.

The YaST2 error occurs when booting the DVD it gets to the bit where it runs through the hardware in the machine and gets to the installation bit at the end then comes up with the error.

This basically means I cant install openSUSE 11.1 on a ibook g3 as it fails to even get as far as installing anything.

I get the install screens come up with the language selection, then the hardware check then at the end of that it comes up with the error.

As far as im aware there isnt any KDE/Gnome or any desktop just the installer screens.
