Yast2 does not work after some time using VNC

Hi there,

I have problems with running Yast2 under Gnome when I connect via VNC to the computer. The first 20-30 times it worked, but then it simply stopped to work. When switching to another VNC-Server (instead of :1 to :2) it works again for approx. 20-30 times. The behaviour is very much similar to the one described here:

Yast2 startet nicht unter VNC (SUSE 11.1/Gnome)

I use OpenSUSE 11.2 with german language set. The VNC server I use the one that is installed “by default”.

When I try to run Yast2 from a terminal under Gnome as normal user I get the following output:

./yast2: Zeile 30: ./lib/YaST2/bin/yast2-funcs: Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden
./yast2: Zeile 267: set_lang_from_sysconfig: Kommando nicht gefunden.
./yast2: Zeile 192: check_qt: Kommando nicht gefunden.
Qt GUI wanted but not found, failing back to ncurses.
./yast2: Zeile 296: check_ncurses: Kommando nicht gefunden.
Something is wrong with the YaST user interface.

When I try to run Yast2 from a terminal under Gnome as root I get the following output:

./yast2: Zeile 30: ./lib/YaST2/bin/yast2-funcs: No such file or directory
./yast2: Zeile 267: set_lang_from_sysconfig: command not found
./yast2: Zeile 296: check_ncurses: command not found
Something is wrong with the YaST user interface.

I checked and the file /usr/lib/YaST2/bin/yast2-funcs does exist and contains also the functions to invoke (set_lang_from_sysconfig, check_ncurses, etc.) and is also executable.

What did I make wrong?

Are there any errors of interest logged in /var/log/messages?

As I am not aware of what could be of interest, I simply post the log file here. Of course, I tried to start yast2 after boot-up.

Well, did you exhibit any problems between Dec 6 18:49:35 and Dec 6 18:49:36? 'cause that’s the timeframe of your log snippet. The log can be very helpful, but you have to match the times in the log to around the failure you’re seeing…

Is there any possibility to attach a file? The log file is ~300k in size. Then I would ZIP it and attach it. That is the reason why I tried to select the proper time frame - but not to the millisecond.
