Yast

Hello =)

How are you doing?

I just installed the Milestone 1, that was released. And when I go to certain sites and click on the icon that says… “Install in 1 click with Yast”, or smth along those lines, I get it downloaded but then a message saying

“No instructions for this version”.

Is it temporary problem, or is there something with me?

I don’t think one click install has been added to the sites yet for 11.2 Just looking at the multimedia section it is only up to 11.1. Remember 11.2 is still in alpha stages.

Looks like you’re just starting to use openSUSE. Stick to one of the current stable versions, i.e. 32 or 64 bit.

hmm… Both is true, what you said. :slight_smile:

I noticed most of 1 click things are for 11.1. As well as that I am new user. However, I like to experiment, find help and solve issue. I don’t know why, but I like to have new things. Or newest maybe fits best.

I’ve been using opensuse for a while, but mostly for surfing internet, music, videos etc. Not much of really getting to know unix and so on. The truth is after 11, I had 11.1 and somehow it didn’t work out for me that well. I tried than couple of other OS’s and finally came back to opensuse 11.2 :slight_smile: I know its Alpha.

Eitherway, it would be great if you could point me towards HOW To or explanations how to manually install Nvidia drivers since 1-click thing for 11.2 doesn’t work. Or if you have links to explanation. Because I’d like to have proper drivers. :slight_smile:
Without going back to install 11.1 just because 1-click for 11.2 doesn’t work.

You need to follow the hard way from the wiki, but…

11.2 is being developed at the moment there is a few changes but over the next few months it is going to begin moving at a rapid pace. I suspect you’ll get a few times where if you’re unlucky and update at the wrong moment then it will be broke…

You’ll going to find a lot of missing packages then your best bet is to look for src.rpm and try compiling them.

My tuppence…
I think you maybe better using 11.1 and trying to work out the problems you have.
