Hello all,
I’m new to Linux and I have a problem with starting YaST on KDE 3.5. under SuSE Linunx 11.0
When starting the YaST I have only the sand clock appearing for couple of seconds and then nothing happens. Also the same situation when starting e.g. “Install applications”. Other applications (e.g. Firefox) start normally.
YaST and Install applications can be started without problems on my other installed desktop of Gnome.
I have originally installed Gnome and then KDE 3.5 afterwards.
What could cause this behavior?
Many thanks in advance.
Make sure you have the following packages installed:
yast2-qt-pkg
yast2-control-center-qt
yast2-qt
(You can install them under GNOME or use “zypper in <packagename>” in konsole as root)
Hello wstephenson,
thanks a lot for the reply. It was exactly what needed to be done. I have downloaded and installed the packages - YaST is working perfectly now.
I have another similar problem though: the “My Computer” icon seems to be not “responding” as well in KDE desktop.
Am I missing another package?
Many thanks!
First, check that you have installed kio_sysinfo package. Right click to the “My Computer” icon, and under Properties/URL need to be
sysinfo:/
If it isn’t works delete the icon, and create a new link to this URL (Right click to your KDE Desktop/New/Link to Location (URL)…)
Thank you ram88!
The package was what I was missing…
