Here’s my system:
System: openSUSE 11.1 (i586)
KDE: 4.1.3 (KDE 4.1.3) “release 4.9”
How do I install packages without having to use the DVD?

In YaST -Software - Repositories
In the list, disable the DVD
If you can’t figure that, please post terminal result of this
zypper lr -d
Probably go into YaST, find software repositories, and either disable DVD or set priority to a number higher than other repositories…
If you google “suse asks for dvd”, as if by magic, it will tell you itself.
Thank you, that fixed my DVD problem.
