YaST Software Management not loading

Hi there,

I use openSUSE Leap 42.1 with KDE Plasma version 5.5.5, Qt Version 5.5.1 and Kernel version 4.1.27-24-default.

My Problem: I can’t open YaST Software Management on my laptop. When I click on the icon there are first the usual progress bars appearing. But once they reach their end, the window is just closing itself. A couple of days ago it did work and I could install some programs, today it won’t even after several restarts.

What can I do?

By the way, I was trying to install anything which could disable the touch pad of my laptop.

You may have mixed repos. show zypper lr -d

Repos look good to me.

Try to run it from a terminal window to see if there are any messages:

su -l -c '/sbin/yast2 sw_single'

This command opened the Software Management window without any problems. Now I can reach the window with the GUI, too. The problem seems to have disappeared. Well, thanks for your help. I had tried several restarts earlier and I’ve got no clue why it is working now.

LEAP isn’t running well on my laptop, though. I have been using my laptop for about 5 or 6 hours today and 3-4 times the screen would freeze and I could do nothing but turn the power off. But that’s probably a different topic and I’ll write a post on that later.
