YAST Software Manager crashes during the install process when changing system packages to those from alternate vendor.
After going to VIEW → REPO, and upon selecting, e.g., packman repo and clicking on “switch system files …”, the packages are shown that will be changed to packman versions. It proceeds to show the proposed package changes.
After clicking ACCEPT, the progress bars come up for installation. Then the Software Manager crashes and nothing is done.
The software manager process also crashed when substituting game repo files for installed system files. Thus, it is not just packman repo that causes issue.
I do remember the Switch repo process working a couple of weeks ago and I am not aware of any recent updates to YAST Software Manager.
Not a big deal as no harm was done.
Is this a bug or is it my system only?

I have found that there were no version changes to be made between repos as I had already made them previously and the process crashed after there was nothing to do.
My mistake for flagging this as an error. Perhaps a “nothing to do” message might be warranted. And perhaps it should not go to the installation page and appear to start an installation.

That makes it easier.
When I saw your first post, I wondered how to test that. I already have switched everything to packman, so it did not seem testable.
But now that you have explained that you had already switched everything – well, I can test that. So I did. And I get the same result – namely, Yast Software Management closes.
But I think this is normal behavior, When I click “Accept”, but there is nothing to do, it closes after doing nothing. I think it has always behaved that way.
On my machine, after “accept”, the begin installation page opens with the install progress bars as if an installation is starting. Then it closes.
Just a curiosity but mine is doing something different than you described.
No issue as far as I am concerned.
Thanks, tom kosvic
I think it is the same as what I was trying to describe.
If I close the application, it just closes. But if I click “accept”, it closes after doing nothing. And yes, it does take its time about doing nothing.
