On a freshly installed Tumbleweed, the “Samba Server” module in YaST seems not to work. After going through, adding shares, changing a few settings, after clicking “OK” the module exits immediately and does not write any changes to /etc/samba/smb.conf.
Maybe I did something wrong in the installation but I have been doing this for years through different openSUSE versions and I have never encountered this issue before.
Actually it was a clean install from the latest iso.
I did a clean install again today, just for laughs, and, other than adjusting the partitioning scheme, I kept all the defaults. Same thing—/etc/samba/smb.conf doesn’t get updated.
I’m getting the impression that no one else has experienced this glitch.
