YAST reporting repository error on fresh 12.1 install.

Fresh install of openSUSE 12.1 (both 32 and 64 bit) KDE and wanted to install additional packages and encountered the problem below:

Nothing to do.

YAST (gui) reports the same problem.

However, in firefox, I am able to access the file/location mentioned above.

Same problem behind an ISA (authentification) with a 32 Bit VM and a 32 Bit on a Laptop.
Both times I upgraded via ‘zypper dup’.
Afterwards I made an ‘upgrade’ installaion on the Laptop via DVD but still the same.

Proxy works. Testing the proxy settings was successfull and I can access Internet.

Seems to have solved the problem:

Replaced all the default repository with direct links to mirrors listed in openSUSE Download Mirrors - 12.1

e.g. by replacing

**

http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/12.1/repo/oss/
**

with

**

http://ftp.jaist.ac.jp/pub/Linux/openSUSE/distribution/12.1/repo/oss/
**

hope this helps anyone future readers with the same problem.

By the way, anyone know if it’s a bug that I should report ?

  1. what does that “both 32 and 64 bit” mean?

a. are they on different partitions and dual boot to run each at a
different time?

b. do you have a different /home for each?

  1. something else, like

a. they are both installed to the same partition (is that even possible?)

b. what!

if the answer to 1.a. above was ‘yes’, then which version is running
when you get those errors…

and, in either case please boot to the troubled system and show us the
terminal input/output from

zypper lr -d
uname -a
cat /etc/SuSE-release

Hi Denver,

Installed 32 bit and noticed the “problem”, reinstall 64 bit and overwrite the same partition.
Installation is on one single root partition (no separate /home etc)

Both installations shows the same “problem”.

Do not understand your question

2b. what!

Anyway, as per my earlier post, have found the way out, thanks.

Hi Denver,

forgot to answer your question in the earlier reply (now reply/post somehow cannot be edited)

reinstalled a 64bit KDE and output the screenshot and info as required below:

you posted to a thread named “YAST reporting repository error on fresh
12.1 install.” but it looks like you can’t possibly have the
same/similar problem, because you installed openSUSE 11.4 (and not 12.1)

so, what is your problem with 11.4?

and, please start a new thread (with a descriptive subject line) for
your problem

That error message is giving an IPv6 address.

If your ISP does not support IPv6, then try disabling IPv6 in Yast network settings. You will probably have to reboot after that change.

Replace in software reposirories download.opensuse.org with 195.135.221.134

Tried to replace a rep source - didn’t work.
Obviously it’s not the same problem. Don’t have the IP6 Output…

@rene2novell
Thanks man . It`s work for me
