After installing VirtualBox 2.2.2 when I try to open Yast the GUI does not open, I can run Yast via a terminal widow as root, how can I get the GUI to respond?
I’m running openSUSE 11.0

It’s unlikely that Vbox is causing this.
Try reinstalling all Yast packages via the CLI basic yast.

It seems to have been a KDE problem, after posting I tried to open a few KDE 3.5 applications, but none would open. I logged out and started Gnome, Yast opened without a problem. so I reinstalled KDE base system. All is working well now.
Recently I have yast problems also. Every time I fix it, then update some package, it updates something and yast breaks.
Well, I found solution to that problem… Install Webmin. It is web-based linux administration. It reckognizes your distro and offers more options than Yast does, so no reason to use broken software anymore.
Of course, that is valid for those that are too lazy to edit configuration files manually and are pissed off at Yast recenly (I am both).
