yast opens out of view

i have this problem that i cant figure out with all the googling, , when ever a yast window opens it always open all the way at the top of the screen mostly out of view, and every time i have to hold down alt to be able to drag it down so i can see it. does anyone have a clue as to what is making them open out of view

I’ve seen this… bit of a mystery.

You on KDE? You might be able to fix it with the button on the left of the title bar. Somewhere in that menu you can define rules for geometry and position for how windows for any given program start up - it should hopefully be fairly self-explanatory.

If on gnome, devilspie is a possible workaround.

Are we to assume your screen resolution is otherwise correctly setup?

ie; when viewing the Desktop - you don’t have parts of the Desktop out of view?

If you are OK there. Then open Yast and right click on the window decoration and in the menu box that appears select: Advanced - Special Window settings
Configure from there

Another suggestion,

Is the top half on another desktop?

Can you change using the pager to the desktop above, is the other half
there?
