With a fresh install (default settings) of openSuSE 11.0 (KDE 3.5) I find that when I run YaST my Control Center only has a hardware icon on the left half of the window. When I look at the openSuSE website under YaST there are icons for software, system, network, etc.
Is this fixable or am I overlooking something obvious?
First off, thanks for all the insightful assistance, now to document the quirk…
Did a media check on the install dvd and found an error ~80% through the check. Reburned from the iso and that dvd checked out fine. Reinstalled via the QC approved media and now my YaST looks like it should. Would have thought that a corrupt install disc would have crashed or given some other form of error information but I guess that having a partionally functional machine is better than nothing.

I like to think of that as OpenSUSE doing what it can to make a working
system. Error 80% in? Bah! I’ll just keep going! I can make this
work!.. Microsoft Product you’d have flames and crash… Linux… well, it
booted!
Yes, it should probably indicate that there was an error somewhere… but
it’s still rather cool that it DID get you a working system. Maybe not 100%,
but you gave it flawed installation media… it did what it could. {Grin}
