I believe this is a bug/security issue. I did not know where to post this. I wanted to know if other have hard this problem.
When I first noticed the Yast problem. I start Yast Administrator Settings which requires a root password. I then close the applacation. I start Terminal Program Super User which requires a root password. I leave the terminal open click to start Yast again. This time no password is required it just starts.
I figure this is a bug so next time I do the same thing with Terminal closed. Well this did not work is started Yast again without root password. I noticed to have Yast required root password I need to shut down and resart.
This normal default behaviour - There is a config for this, just can’t recal where. And I’m having to log out now. I’ll check back tomorrow. If you wait long enough it will ask for pass.
In the YaST “Enter Password” window there is a box “Keep Password” (not certain about the exact wording, I have a translation). When it is checked YaST remembers your root password for a certain amount of time (do not know how much, but it is more in the range of minutes then hours). Uncheck it when you feel saver without it.
Edit: IMHO it has nothing to do with the terminal in super user mode. It is just a coincidence.
It is a coincidence and the behaviour is normal on 11.1
Strange enough only now I notice that 11.2 Milestone 5 doesn’t have this feature. Each time yast2 is started it invokes kdesu.
