Yast is broken or something...

I tried to install Amarok about 2 weeks ago which was listed as taboo in my Yast because it had caused problems before, but this time it made the whole system crash and I couldn’t get back into it. Today I did a system repair off the DVD and via some miracle I can get back into the system now, but Yast is broken. It will let me sign in with my password but nothing happens. Help! I also get error messages when I try to pull up Online Update in the Administrator Settings. This is the error:

/sbin/yast2: line 421: 8446 Aborted (then a long list of gobbledy-gook).

Just installed 11.1 and yast in KDE4 doesn’t work. Just get log in dialogue then nothing. Yast does work in terminal mode only

try zypper install yast*

it may repair the yast gui and plugins

This command tells me that it’s already installed nothing to do.

By using this command in a terminal yast --qt I then have the yast control panel that I was expecting after clicking on the yast icon.
