Note:I came back a couple of hours later and noticed that it finally did complete initialization. Whatever, that’s unacceptably slow.
I seldom use the YaST utilities. However, I don’t experience such a delay with YaST > Hardware > Network Settings.
For network hardware and interface status you could do
inxi -na
What specific information are you after?
I wanted to verify ipv6 was disabled, but this shouldn’t be hanging like it is, I’d like to get to the bottom of it. There must be one or ore timeouts involved for it to take so long to bull though. It would be nice to know if/what they are and possibly to alter the timeout time.
The inxi was a command i have used a few times but forgotten about - thanks
You can see if it is disabled globally with
cat /proc/sys/net/ipv6/conf/all/disable_ipv6
or
sudo sysctl net.ipv6.conf.all.disable_ipv6
You can also check for IPv6 assignments with
ip a |grep inet6
If nothing is returned then it is disabled.
Thanks, but why is yast hanging? It hangs in console version as well as gui version.
How can i determine the cause?
Just in case the following thread is of value:
