Yast hangs during second stage of installation of 12.2

So I’ve successfully been through part of the installation process, installing in headless mode using ssh.
After doing a system update of all packages, the system rebooted.
I then logged in, ran yast.ssh again, got the gui and this happened…

  • a small box showed up saying starting networking
  • it disappeared, and the main yast screen is just sat there “Initialising…” with the busy cursor.

I’m not sure if we’re stuck starting the firewall, or are just beyond there. Here’s some diagnostic info…

looking on /var/log/YaST2/y2log…

But when I try to see if the firewall is running I get this…

nas:~ # service SuSEfirewall2 status
service: no such service SuSEfirewall2

Can anyone help me diagnose/fix this?
If it helps, this is a 32bit installation of opensuse 12.2

Thanks in advance.

Well - worked around the problem anyway.

I connected up a terminal and keyboard so it was no longer “remote only”.
I then looked around and found the file
/etc/install.inf

and edited it to change ‘UseSSH’ from ‘1’ to ‘0’.
Then I ran yast2 manually and lo and behold, could complete the installation ok.

So it looks to me like there’s a yast.ssh process defect in there somewhere :frowning:

would you please log that bug into bugzilla, http://tinyurl.com/nzhq7j

just mentioning it here won’t get any fix action as we here are ‘just’
users helping other users…there are practically no developers/fixers
here to read your report…and, even if there were they don’t come here
looking for things to fix–instead that is what bugzilla is for…

the ID/Pass you used here will log you into bugzilla also…
