XOrg CPU

Hello again,

what’s the normal CPU usage of a XOrg session?
I think mine is a little bit high, so I want to compare :stuck_out_tongue:

Remco

Output of top -p (procesid of Xorg) -n50 gives:
Tasks: 1 total, 0 running, 1 sleeping, 0 stopped, 0 zombie
Cpu(s): 3.1%us, 1.7%sy, 0.0%ni, 95.2%id, 0.0%wa, 0.0%hi, 0.0%si, 0.0%st
Mem: 2058996k total, 1105556k used, 953440k free, 50956k buffers
Swap: 2096472k total, 0k used, 2096472k free, 583024k cached

Xorg sits at a pretty constant 50 - 60% on my system. I think due to intel video driver

Hi
Seems excessive??

The application xrestop may also help identifying issues.

Mine is idle most of the time but when there is some action like plasmoid in work it jumps to values between 5 and 8 for some seconds.

apparently it is a known issue with older intel graphics (I’m using 915G) since the i810 drivers were removed from Opensuse 11.1

i have also very high cpu utilization with ATi Mobility Radeon x2300 :frowning:
basically the RC2 is unusable at the moment.
