xfce4-notifyd service is missing

Hi all,

I recently upgraded to Leap 15.3 and noticed that the xfce4 notification service, xfce4-notifyd, is no longer present:

> systemctl status xfce4-notifyd.service
Unit xfce4-notifyd.service could not be found.

The configuration app (xfce4-notifyd-config) is still there and reporting that the service isn’t running.
The xfce4-notifyd package is installed (version 0.6.2).

Does anyone if that service was replaced by something else?

I couldn’t find any mention in the xfce 4.16 change log.

This is resulting in notify-send hanging.

xfce4-notifyd still exists and it’s at /usr/lib/xfce4/notifyd/xfce4-notifyd

It appears that it’s just the service has been removed for some reason.

notifyd should be started via /etc/xdg/autostart/xfce4-notifyd.desktop (and it is started here). This is upstream change. Read package changelog.

Understood, thanks.

I should specify, this was only an issue in my case because I was using it without actually starting xfce. It appears that I wouldn’t have had an issue otherwise because of that autostart entry.
