I have set thunar to mount and browse external usb drives but it doesn’t works. I have to click on the dimmed icon on the desktop or use thunar to mount the external usb drives.
I right click on the dimmed icon on my desktop > open > then in Thunar where Thunar opens the drive.
On my wife’s older laptop, running xfce with debian 11, when I plug in the external drive, thunar starts automatically, mount the drive and open the gui for me to do…
I was asking on how to get thunar to mount the external usb drive and open the gui. I have configured it, see the screen capture on 1st post of thread.
I think I got what you want. You wanted that when you insert a device it will auto open.
You have to check auto-open files on new drives and media in xfce4-settings-manager under Removable Drives and Media. Doing so you have to logout and then login again to work. is that what you want?
I tried usb sticks here with 60 gb and it worked but failed to automount and open on a one terabyte my passport.
I installed udiskie and I added it in the session and startup - application autostart and was able to automount the one terabyte my passport drive. Hope this helps.
Edit: my bad, it didn’t auto open but rather auto-mounted.
On my side I don’t want it to auto-open I am content of just clicking the device to view the contents.
The my passport drive is like in your case clicking it in thunar is the way to mount.
udiskie looks nice, as soon as you plugin the device there is a popup you can click and browse the files.
