Beyond just the branding issue…has anyone had any major issues after installing xfce 4.20 yet?
Hi, I shifted my tumbleweed xfce 4.20 to the tumbleweed official repo and looks good. Catch is I lost the wayland session. My guess the the official xfce 4.20 of tumbleweed isn’t built with wayland support. I went back to the tumbleweed xfce repo to have wayland option in Xfce.
Is xfce4-session-wayland-experimental installed? Regarding wayland support, see Xfce 4.20 has been released on Tumbleweed - openSUSE Factory - openSUSE Mailing Lists
FYI: It seems that xfce4-session-wayland-experimental is not pulled in automatically.
Opensuse Tumbleweed Xfce
- Dual monitor setup
- Each monitor with a panel
- Each panel with Window Buttons
- Each Window Buttons configured to show only Apps from that monitor
If an app window gets dragged too close to the middle edge (middle of monitors) the app button shows in both Window Buttons (on both monitors). There’s a margin in the middle edge of the monitors that shows the app buttons in both monitor even though it didn’t go into the other monitor territory.
This didn’t happen before. And haven’t found how to deactivate this behavior.
I’ve noticed that the previous behavior only happens with certain app windows like Firefox or Evince or Thunderbird for example.
No serious issues encountered, but wallpaper/power/tray settings & keybinds changed, which is annoying. I don’t use dual monitors or Wayland.
Thanks @fkrueger , yep xfce4-session-wayland-experimental wasn’t installed. I went back to the official tumbleweed repo and all is good now.
Has the package being removed during the switch to TW? Would you mind leaving a comment at Re: Xfce 4.20 has been released on Tumbleweed - openSUSE Factory - openSUSE Mailing Lists? Thx.
Hi, I tried living a comment but for some reason I can’t login a while ago.
I went back to the tumbleweed xfce package and I have to manually add the wayland experimental session. One more observation is that upon login to the wayland session using labwc or wayfire the tumbleweed official package is slow to start. It takes maybe 20 second. The screenshooter is unusable unlike the one from the obs which can take screenshot of the whole screen. The wallpaper in wayland session is locked to the Xfce 4.20 wallpaper and can’t be change to a different wallpaper. I’m back again to the Xfce 4.20 from obs. Thanks.
That was not the question. The question was - was this package automatically installed from the development repository and then removed when switching back to the Tumbleweed repositories.
Yep I understand the question, I only had a mistake in explaining. I said I have to manually install the wayland-experimental because it is not being pulled automatically when I switch to the official tumbleweed package.
Oh, the xfce4-session-wayland-experimental package I guess is unique to the official tumbleweed xfce repositories. I can only see it in the official tumbleweed repository and not in the obs. It looks as it is only another option if you want to test xfce in wayland. The session in the obs is already built with wayland option. Hope I explain it good now.
I am puzzled by your answer(s). Your original Xfce session with wayland support was installed from here: https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/X11:/xfce/openSUSE_Tumbleweed/, right? But this repo also contains " xfce4-session-wayland-experimental".
I am using this:
https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/X11:/xfce:/rat/openSUSE_Tumbleweed/
Is this a valid repository?
As you can see the experimental wayland session was not installed yet I have the wayland session.
You are telling us now that you are using this particular repo, sorry, the discussion doesn’t make any sense to me anymore.
