Xfce always the desktop logged into

Hi,
I installed and like Xfce as a window & desktop manager. However I can’t seem to login to any other now. I have seen reports of the reverse problem with kde, but not this direction. I have tried (always logingout and not saving the session):

  • login to kde -> get xfce
  • login to icewm -> get xfce
  • login to default -> get xfce

In /etc/sysconfig, set using YaST2, my default window and desktop mangers are kwin and kdm4.

I have KDE4 updated from the stable repos for 11.0, I have also done a zyppper dup.

Appreciate any suggestions in addition to “un-install Xfce”

Thanks
Mark

In case anyone else comes this way…

The issue it seems is with:
KDE 4.1.3:
/etc/sysconfig

  • Display Manager: DISPLAYMANAGER: kdm4
  • Window Manager: DEFAULT_WM: kwin

1- Login in to Xfce,
2- Logout without saving the session
3- Select KDE4 desktop in “Session Type” listing
4- Type your user name and password
5- Press enter to submit your user name/password
6- You should now be logged in to Xfce desktop.

Instead try this:
1- As above
2- As above
3- Type your user name and password
4- Select KDE4 desktop in “Session Type” listing
5- Press enter to submit your user name/password
6- You should now be logged in to KDE 4 desktop.

Can anyone else confirm this?
If so I’ll submit a bug report.
Mark
