Xen kernel hangs after memory upgrade.

Hi

I’m running opensuse 11.0 with the latest patches and all was well until I decided to upgrade my memory from 512MB to 3GB then the boot just hangs after HAL daemon and before interface start.
I have seen some issues regarding this but no definitive answers.

So are there any workarounds I have not yet tried?

Tried the swiotlb=16 or 64 woth no luck.
Also changed the xend-config.sxp regarding bridge interface.

Hi Andreas,

give it another whirl with the boot option mem=1G (set it on the second option line).

The kernel in openSUSE 11.1 seems ok again.

Good luck,
Wj

Thanks, yes now my machine boots Ok but then whats the point of installing new memory? :’(

Can’t wait for 11.1 to be released.

Hi Andreas,

The mem setting only restricts dom0. You should still be able to use the added memory for the guests.

Have you run Memtest86+ to determine if the fault lies in the RAM?
