I’m using Linux since V5.3, so I have a little bit expirience in using it ;).
My Primergy RX300 server is running under Linux since opensuse 8.3, with v9.0 I started to use xdmcp / xming under Windows XP SP3 in my LAN (and only there ). Until opensuse 11.1 it works always really fine. With opensuse 11.2 I got the following problem:
I’m starting Xming (Windows XP SP3) to connect via xdmcp to my server, I can see the login screen (gnome), I can choose a username and also I can enter the password. After pressing ENTER nothing is happening! The screen doesn’t change to the desktop, you can only see gnome’s idle icon!
I downgrade back to 11.1, everything is fine again. I tried both versions (11.1 and 11.2) now on 6 (!) different machines, always the same! With 11.1 xdmcp works, with 11.2 not!
Yes, and shame on me, I tried this with Ubuntu also. 9.10 works not, older versions will. But that’s not important here… :\
Ok, I suppose there is a big change in opensuse 11.2 from 11.1.
But: which?
What do I have to do that xdmcp / xming is working fine with 11.2?

I have little idea what xdmcp / xming does, but the biggest change between 11.1
and 11.2 is a kernel upgrade from 2.6.27 to 2.6.31 and an upgrade from KDE 3.5
to 4.3. I think you could add KDE 4.X to 11.1, but you certainly could try a
more recent kernel from the Factory repo.
