On a fresh LEAP 42.2 install with KDE xboard crashes with this messages
xboard: Fehler beim Schreiben zum Schachprogramm erstes: Datenübergabe unterbrochen (broken pipe)

What chess engine?
I experienced similar problems (but on 13.1/13.2 and not on 42.1, I don’t have a 42.2 running xboard atm.), when using engines talking the Xboard protocol (i.e. crafty), however when using UCI engines (stockfish, fruit, toga, glaurung) via polyglot, I never had that problem (and especially stockfish is the much stronger engine anyway).

Even if I try to change the engine an error is thrown. Now I’ve switched to gnome-chess.
