x64 setup fails on Samsung X460-AS05 laptop

Hello,

I have got Samsung X460-AS05 laptop, which is equipped with 4 GB RAM, Intel PM45 chipset, Core 2 Duo CPU, and Phoenix 03LY BIOS.

I am trying to install x64 operating system onto the laptop. Both Windows XP x64 and OpenSUSE 11.1 x64 installation programs fail without any meaningful message, and the laptop is rebooted. Only M$ Vista x64 is able to operate on the laptop. 32-bit operating systems work perfectly. I was not able to get any meaningful feedback from Samsung technical support. I understand that the laptop BIOS is flawed somehow, but Microsoft managed to implement some workaround in Vista. Please let me know if it is possible to force Linux x64 to install on this laptop.

Does the BIOS support updates? Many time the BIOS software is old. You could also give the x86_64 Live CD a try. If that boots and runs…Are you sure the thing was built as a 64-bit machine?

Sorry for late reply.

BIOS seems to be the latest one. x86_64 live CD crashes as well. However, Vista x64 works fine.
