X11 obs project repository key expired

Hi Folks,
I have run into a problem during update where the X11 OBS Project X11@build.opensuse.org gpg key is out of date on my system (expired: 09/15/26; from Yast Software Repos screenshot:).

but when I look on the build service web site for X11:

I find that the expiry is now 2028-11-09 .
I’ve tried to update my repos via zypper and yast a number of times to no avail. I have an X11:Wayland in my repo list, but there isn’t a reference to X11 OBS specifically except in the GPG keys list.
What am I doing wrong and how can I sort it out?

By removing non-stock repos. There is no win in having them.

zypper lr -d
rpmkeys --list
rpm -qa gpg-pubkey --qf '%{Description}'|gpg --with-fingerprint

You can simply remove the no longer needed and outdated gpg key. This can easily be done via YaST or after you have shown the output of the requested commands via terminal. Afterwards, a zypper ref will pull in the new key when needed.

Yes, I’ve done zypper clean and ref a couple of times but not with the arguments.

I didn’t think it was still relevant after I had deleted the expired repository key and I only seemed to have an X11:Wayland repo, not an X11 OBS Project repo.

X11:Wayland is a subproject of X11 project.

So the key was not deleted.

Delete the key via:
sudo rpmkeys --delete 780504e9-668ae945

Clean cache and perform a refresh:

sudo zypper clean -a
sudo zypper ref -f

Honestly, your repo list (and system maintenance) is a bloody mess…

It’s a guarantee for disaster. No need to use euphemisms for this.

I did delete it using yast. When I saw the key in the list, I went back to yast and repeated the deletion, which yast acknowledged and the key was not in the list. I closed the yast repo window, reopened it and the key was back.
As to having a bunch of community repos, there are a number of applications that I use that aren’t in the canon. I periodically consolidate and delete unnecessary repos, but I still end up with several. If you have any suggestions about how to get applications that aren’t in opensuse’s repos without using the community sources, I would appreciate hearing about it as it does take a while for all of the repos to refresh.

@bcain Log into the Open Build Service, if the package is in a development repo, just submit to openSUSE:Factory and let the maintainer decide if they wish to maintain in openSUSE.

For $HOME repos, look for a suitable development repository and submit to that… If it gets there, then can submit to openSUSE:Factory…

@malcomlewis Thanks for the tips; I will check to see if any of the programs I use from the community repos would be of wider interest to warrant recommendation to Factory.
