X sesion on vt8 not working

Greetings,

on a new installed openSUSE-13.2 with kde I’m trying to open a new x session with
/usr/bin/X :8.0 -query 192.168.222
from the tty7 console command line.
It swtches to a black screen with a cursor blinking in top left but no kde login screen.

This is what joutnalctl -f shows on 192.168.1.22:

kdm[5719]: 127.0.0.3:8[5719]: Cannot connect to 127.0.0.3:8, giving up
kdm[516]: Display 127.0.0.3:8 cannot be opened

DISPLAY on calling machine=
:0

There is no problem to connect to the server with an xserver, like NetSarang’s XManager.

This was running ok with openSUSE-11 and I wonder what I’m doing wrong.

Thanks for reading and hints,
Wolf

Why not “switch User” in the “Leave” or “Exit” K-Menu? (sorry, here on German)

X server crash seems to be a bug https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=66862. Open bug report on openSUSE bugzilla and refer to the upstream bug.

As this appers to be a showstopper for upgrading my system from opensuse-11 to opensuse-13 I wonder what alternatives are left.

Filed the bug but have no idea when this issue will be fixed.

Any suggestions?

Issue solved!

/usr/bin/X :8.0 -query 192.168.222

The invalid IP address caused the problem!

Using a correct IP it works OK.
