X-server, auto-detect, and Xorg.conf

I’m installing 11.4 as a guest under Citrix’s XenServer. The only access to a guest’s graphical desktop is via VNC.
The problem is that I can’t achieve runlevel 5 as X can’t find any devices. With 11.3 I was able to run Sax2 and add a dummy screen device to Xorg.conf that it created.
When Sax2 was removed from 11.4, what was the fall-back for configuring X?

you asked the same question three days ago…

please do not double post…

please refer to your earlier thread here: http://tinyurl.com/6b7z6jp

if you feel you put your initial post in the wrong place, then please
PM a mod and ask for it to be moved…

thanks…

Since it turns out the issue is NOT with Sax2 missing, but how to configure the X server w/o using auto-detect, I created a new thread in the proper place without any of the baggage (In the other thread you said “i do NOT know what i’m talking about” in reference to your own suggestions and asked me to “post again…”) of the old thread.

Did you keep a copy of the xorg.conf? If so, you could copy it to the same place (/etc/X11/) on 11.4. Maybe you have a problem getting it into the guest?

Alternatively you could add a dummy screen device as appropriate to the config file(s) in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/

50-monitor.conf similar statements to the Monitor section of xorg.conf: configures the hardware of a monitor
50-device.conf similar Driver statements to the Device section of xorg.conf: configures the graphic chip/card’s driver
50-screen.conf similar Device and Monitor statements to the Screen section of xorg.conf: defines the monitor and graphics chip/card combination.

For individual statements, you can refer to “man” pages for xorg.conf, and for a particular named graphics driver.

if you get the help you need here then great…but, you misunderstood
my “post again” because i said

i suspect graphics, if so something here should get you going:
http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Configuring_graphics_cards

or post again…

which, when i wrote it it was my intention for it to be understood as:
If the how-to-configure graphics without SAX2 does not lead you to a
smile then, post again [here, in this thread]…
