X mouse cursor not always visible except for root mode.

I’m using the classic x cursor. When running as normal user, the x cursor only becomes visible when pointing on hyperlinks.Otherwise it is an arrow cursor. But when I run an application as root, it is constantly visible in the application window, no matter where in the window I point with the mouse. For example, if I run the Krusader file manager in root mode or logged in to YaST. How can I make it constantly visible in all applications and on the desktop?
I’m using KDE 3.5.10 with the X-Default-Black cursor theme.

Thanks in advance!
