X display manager fails

System stop on starting X display manager after Nvidia driver update with zypper (during installation it complained for hash mismatch). I can login to console but GUI seems to be broken. Nvidia driver re-installation does not help.

openSUSE 12.2 (i586)
KDE 4.8
kernel 3.4.28-2.20-desktop

rpm -qa | grep nvidia
nvidia-gfxG02-kmp-desktop-304.64_k3.4.6_2.10-26.1.i586
nvidia-computeG02-304.64-27.1.i586

You could start yast from the console login

Login as user
become su -
type: yast

Here you can re-install or remove
If you remove it should boot using nouveau.

zypper can remove it to

zypper rm nvidia-gfxG02-kmp-desktop nvidia-computeG02

I recently switched to the G03 version
But make sure your card is OK for that

My update went without issue this time. The previous one was messed up.

Thank u for a quick reply.

Uninstalled nvidia drivers, it switched to nouveau, but nouveau also fails to load GUI another output:

udevd [307] RUN+=“socket…”
udevd [305] error: can not open "/sys/devices/platform/microcode/firmware/microcode/loading

As for the G03 version, I think my integrated Atom ION GPU does not support it as on nvidia driver download page gives http://us.download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86/310.32/NVIDIA-Linux-x86-310.32.run

The packages required, though yours will be 02 versions are

nvidia-computeG03-310.32-15.1.x86_64
x11-video-nvidiaG03-310.32-15.1.x86_64
nvidia-gfxG03-kmp-desktop-310.32_k3.4.6_2.10-15.1.x86_64

Zypper gives strange long output during installation

zypper in nvidia-computeG02 x11-video-nvidiaG02 nvidia-gfxG02-kmp-desktop

output is below

Something is messed up and I can’t read the info at your paste site
Please use susepaste: SUSE Paste

Sure, here it is.
SUSE Paste
Fixed GUI by updateing to KDE 4.9

Can you just clarify the, are you OK or not?
