WvDial on SusE 11.3

Greetings!

using wvdial ver 1.60 on a OpenSuSE-11.3 I have problems to connect to my ISP.
It fails with

CONNECT 64000/ISDN/X75

ISP Logo

Username:
→ Carrier detected. Waiting for prompt.
% Authentication failed.
Username:
→ Looks like a login prompt.
→ Sending: userid@provider.net
% Authentication failed.

However, using the same wvdial.conf and /etc/options on an old SuSE7.3, wvdial connects without any problems.

Any hints?

Does that wvdial ver 1.60 belong to openSUSE 11.3?
(most of us can not check because 11.3 is also old and not supported anymore).

Yes, it’s part of SuSE-11.3

Double verify that the login/pass are correct. It’s long since I did this,
I don’t remember what the /etc/options file was for. Instead I have an old
“/etc/ppp/options”. In this file, I have “debug”. Last time I changed it
was Oct 2005.

It is because of the 11.3 part that I guess you realy mean openSUSE. Because as far as I know there is no SLES/SLED 11.3 (or 11 SP3). Thus I guess you wanted to correct my openSUSE to your SuSE for another reason I do not understand. But be aware of the fact that misspelling could cause misunderstanding.

This was causing the problem:
CONNECT 64000/ISDN/X75
ISP is analog only.
Corrected it and worked fine.

Thank you all for your input!

Weird.

What did you correct exactly? That message its not yours, is from the modem.
I’m curious to know, and people may come searching this post in the future
and would like to know if your solution applies to their problem.
