Wrong with mediaplayers

As topic…

When I try to watch a movie in a player like Mplayer or VLC
the movie flippers…like blinking or something

Does it all the time and its impossible to watch a movie without getting a headache
What can be the problem?

Check to ensure you have w32codec-all installed. Also check your video output mode. Instead of “auto”, try “x11”, or “xv” (xvideo) or some other settings (under the preferences of those media players) to see if it makes any difference. For mplayer you may find the “smplayer” front end makes mplayer much more friendly to use.
