Wrong permissions

Hello!

I’ve updated KDE to 3.5.10. After that, all my permissions were wrong. (Well, I’m not sure, if it’s KDE install’s fault).

Following happens now: Xine and KMix can’t access the autio device, KNetworkManager doesn’t show devices.

Running as root, everything works.

A dirty workaround helps with the audio, but not the network: chown /dev recursively to my username. But this effect remains only till the next reboot.

Running “SuSEconfig --module permissions” doesn’t help.

And one more new annoying thing:
“Your hard disk drive is failing! S.M.A.R.T. message: Device: /dev/sda, not capable of SMART self-check”.
I think it happens when the device wants to go to standby.

Try adding your regular user to group audio.

Note after adding a regular user to group audio, you need to logout and log back in to Linux.

Thank you! The audio problem is gone.
Network problem remains.
Note: I am in groups ‘modem’ and ‘dialout’.
