World Clock?

Any one know of a world clock applet that can be run in gnome 3, something that you can show or choose from different cities around the world

Sorry, no - only the KDE world clock.

You can add locations in the clock preferences in Gnome 2. Was this functionality removed in Gnome 3?

I’m not aware of a clock applet other than the one mentioned above, but there is a web site available:

World Time Zone.com has both 12 & 24 hours formats available, and its on a world map.
