Workspace bar splits from Panel after upgraded to 12.1

I just upgraded my AMD64 PhenomII X3 from OpenSuSE 11.3 directly to OpenSuSE 12.1. Now, the workspace bar is split to the bottom of the screen while the gnome panel is on top of the screen. How can I put the workspace bar back to the gnome panel on top of the screen?

I rename the existing user directory to something else and created a new/empty directory for the user instead of creating a new user. When I logged into the user with the new/empty directory, OpenSuSE complains with error messages as shown below. My system is equipped with a nVidia Corporation G72 [GeForce 7300 SE/7200 GS] video card with the Integrated ATI Radeon 3000 video chip on Asus M3A76-CM mobo disabled. While running on the old OpenSuSE v11.3, I had the XORG configured with FGLRX driver. When upgraded to OpenSuSE v12.1, X failed to start and complained about missing FGLRX. So, I just edited the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file and commented out the FGLRX driver line to make X running.

GNOME 3 Not Found:

Unfortunately GNOME 3 failed to start properly and started in the fallback mode.

This most likely means your system (graphics hardware or driver) is not capable of delivering the full GNOME 3 experience.

Why didn’t you take my advice?

It makes no difference and still gives me the same error messages.
