I have a working setup so I can access shares both from my openSuse to windows and vice versa. But there is no tiny things that bother me. In the windows explorer it will always list ::
share_name on “Samba 3.5.4-5…”
rather than the hostname (as at least Debian does). I have search high and low for this text sting but just can not find. It also pops up if I scan machine with nmap as ::
LAN Manager: Samba 3.5.4-5.1.2-2426-SUSE-SL11.3
I know I’m nitpicking but I would like to change this.
to your /etc/samba/smb.conf on the [global] section
