Before attempting to log in on the Forums, go to the Wiki, open a page, and Log In there. When successfully logged in on the Wiki, THEN go to the Forums. Seems to be working from there.
Can an admin put such a temporary message at the top of the Forums page?
Yes, that just worked for me.
I found out about that trick from the support mailing list (looking at archive).
It’s also at the bottom of the Status page – <https://status.opensuse.org/>
