hello so this is the issue i just installed the rc of win 7 on a extra partition thinking i could just use my opensuse istall disk to reinstall grub but everytime time i try to use the system repair tools on the suse 11.1 install disk to boot suse or reinstall the bootloader it keeps saying it cant find a valid linux root partition and wont install grub or boot suse for me.
i know my opensuse partition is still intact and not corrupt because i am able to boot in to a live linux cd and mount my suse partition and view the files in it but the opensuse install tools still dont seem to notice that partition.
thank you for any help in advanced

One more just to confuse
If he does not have any pre-made repairs tools on a live disk he can always
boot to the live system, drop to a console mount the / of SuSE and then
chroot to the mounted partition and use the installed SuSE root commands,
here he can reinstall the MBR+grub using Yast if he has all just on one /
partition ( which he has, might need to use the full path though )
There is always more than one/two/three/four ways of skinning the proverbial
Tux
got it going i just used super grub disk to directly boot suse than fixed it all with yast.
but i am woundering why the repair tools on the suse 11.1 install disk dont work.
i never had to use the reapair tool for suse 11 or 11.1 untill now but they always worked on 9.x and 10.x
The repair tool is very complicated. It sometimes get confused – maybe the openSUSE installation is far along the disk – it’s a hot day – the kdz are too loud – but mostly it works. For when it doesn’t work, there are the workarounds like the ones we showed here, so all is well.
