Woke Up Today And Desktop Was Frozen - How To Troubleshoot?


Running current openSUSE Tumbleweed KDE 64Bit.
I woke up today and the desktop was frozen?
(had to hard reset)

How do I troubleshoot the above issue?

    (Proprietary nVidia Linux Display Driver Version 440.82)
  • ADATA 1TB SSD Hard Drive(OS & Apps)
  • Western Digital 1TB HDD Hard Drive(Personal Data)

Running Applications When Freeze Occurred:

  • Konsole(ExpressVPN Running)
  • HexChat
  • Pidgin IM
  • Skype
  • Mozilla Thunderbird Email Client
  • Mozilla Firefox Browser
  • Google Chrome Browser
  • FileZilla FTP Client
  • LibreOffice Calc
  • Valveā€™s Linux Steam Game Client
  • AppGameKit Studio Game Creation IDE
  • RealVNC VNC Viewer(Win 10 Desktop Being Viewed)

When the system was frozen, could you still bring up a virtual console using CTRL+ALT+F1?

The way I have seen a system hang is that is was running out of memory, not sure if that is the case here but you can keep KSysGuard running (and keeping it one the foregrond) to see if the Memory (or the CPU) is to blame.
