As was said earlier, it depends on the driver AND the udev rules. For Broadcom
devices, b43 names it wlanX while wl names it ethX.

The reason why I asked is the two machines I have with OpenSuSE and wireless show wlanX. One is a Atheros AR5001X and the other Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945ABG [Golan]. Good to know a wireless adapter can show up as ethX…
