Can you help me connecting?:shame:
Thanks

Well, how are you trying to connect?
If you use your Desktop’s network applet, you might have to enable NetworkManager first in YaST->System->Network Devices->Network Settings->Global Options.
Without NetworkManager running you have to configure your wlan in YaST.

Thanks for your reply:)
Yes, I’m using the Network Manager.
When I edit the network connection i see the SSID corresponding to the service provider. If I ‘click’ on Select BSSID button it correctly puts the MAC address. In the beginning I chose to: Connect automatically and System connection.
In the wireless security tab I typed the password but, can’t connect.:frowning:
What would you suggest me to do?

Help anyone?:shame:

You only have to select the network, enter passphrase/key, and that’s it. No need to fill out any other values.

Thanks for your replylol!
I’ve been doing exactly what you indicate me and haven’t been able to connect wirelessly. I’m sure my net-card works fine (I dual boot with w8 where it works well) but in opensuse… nothing!
I installed opensuse 13.1 just last week. I’m probing it (I’m quite new in linux; learning and fascinated with this software) and I would really want to give opensuse a try.
Any advice?:shame:

Are you using WEP? If so, you must use the key. A passphrase will not work.

Hi, again!lol!
Going to Yast → Network Settings → Global Options → Configuration Method, I have activated: Controlled by NetworkManager, and I don’t see a WEP option.:\

No, when using NM, edit the wireless connection via the icon. Gnome and KDE versions are slightly different, but locate the wireless tab, wireless security, change to WEP if applicable.

You haven’t specified if you’re using WEP or not - how’s the router
configured? You need to match that configuration.

FYI, though, WEP is generally not recommended because it’s easily
hacked. WPA2 is generally recommended if you’re encrypting the network.

But you have to set that at the router and then match the configuration
at the client.

I went to the NW manager and in the “Wireless Security” tab, I chose WPA/WPA2 Personal. Now the connection seems stable… and hope that it stays like that…
Thanks for your advice!

Glad to hear you got connected - it definitely makes a difference to have
the right encryption configured.

Good. Glad you finally got there.

Thanks guyslol!
I really appreciate your support!
See you in next post!

Hi… again!
In my last post I commented that my wifi was working, and indeed it was. I started the machine once more and there was my wireless network… Since then, i haven’t been able to connect. I tried to follow instructions from some other posts but I must recognize that my expirience configuring networks is almost zero…:shame:
Can you please help me?

I double boot with w8 where my wireless card works well. When i plug the ethernet wire, I get the internet service without any issue. It is the wireless connection that is giving me hard time…

This is my ifconfig:

jazami:/home/antonio # /sbin/ifconfig

I also tried:

jazami:/home/antonio # iwconfig

eno1 no wireless extensions.

Please indicate me what else to post.

Thanks!lol!

Any hardware (keyboard) buttons that switch on/off the wifi card?
Is wireless networking enabled in the Networkmanager?

Thank you very much for answering;)
Yes, I have a keyboard button and is always red (in w8 switches: white/red for on/off).

Yes, I have:

:heavy_check_mark: Enable Networking
:heavy_check_mark: Enable wireless

and I’m managing with “NetworkManager”

Help! Anyone, please! :’(

Have you tried reconfiguring your wireless connection via the network manager? (If necessary, delete and scan again.)

Thanks for your answer:D
Yes, I’ve erased and scanned several times…nothing!
After I read your answer I did it once more; then, restarted the machine… and I saw what happens sometimes: I get a connection for few seconds and then switches off (?)
Do you know what else can i do?:\
