touch…but, though i have heard about burning the candle at both ends
i never heard of burning candles upside down…

or are those hot air balloons shaped/colored to look like red candles
floating upside down into the night…and i just can see the gondola? :wink:

I believe you are 100% on the money here.

I’m currently on vacation in Phuket Thailand, and its not-uncommon on the beach at night time to have someone sell a sort of an upside down ‘paper bag’ in which one lights up something at the entrance to the bag and it floats off into the sky.

It looks wonderful at night time, especially if there are more than one lit at a time.

Chinese lanterns can be very attractive, but sadly they have also caused
a number of fires because they can return to earth whilst still burning.
Both houses and farmers’ crops have been significantly damaged. There
have been calls to ban the lanterns in the UK.

If you google ‘chinese lantern fire’, you can discover more including a
brand that claims to be safe. I don’t know any more.
